Outdoor Research was founded in 1981 in Seattle, Washington by a scientist and adventurer named Ron Gregg. In the years since they have grown from a small, niche outdoor company to a force in innovative and creative outdoor gear. We were big fans of the OR brand long before we got the call to explore the possibility of working with them.
In 2015, ZaneRay was selected to redesign the Outdoor Research web site. We began with an extensive study of their customer and brand, resulting in the redesign that took place in 2016. The OR site was not responsive and it was time to update the look to meet the level of quality they produce in all other forms of marketing. As outdoor enthusiasts ourselves, it was a natural fit to take on the OR site—they make the products our team puts to use every day in the Rocky Mountains of Montana.
Launching in May of 2017, the new site is packed full of innovative and interactive shopping tools, designed to engage users on the highest level. While the initial launch includes a fully responsive layout optimized as a mobile first experience, additional innovative shopping features will be added throughout the coming year—all designed to showcase the OR commitment to product excellence and design.
ZaneRay has enjoyed this journey and is stoked to continue to explore the next levels of possibility for the site and brand of OR.
