At ZaneRay, we get the good fortune of partnering up with clients and projects that are just plain fun. Jackson Hole Mountain Resort is a good example of this. Located in the quintessential mountainous hotbed of Jackson Hole in the famed Teton Range, several ZaneRayers have lived, skied, biked, hiked and visited there over the years and perhaps it was natural destiny that we would work together.
Tasked to create the "best website experience of any ski resort in North America," we dug deep to meet the challenge. On the front end, we carefully planned and executed the structural and creative changes to the site. Understanding and articulating the essence of the brand with a new, compelling look was paramount. Knowing that our audience would include longtime locals and neophytes alike, the discovery path and page architecture was carefully scrutinized, including the addition of a helpful First Timer's Guide.
Knowing the importance of providing visitors with a usable non-Flash interactive map, the ZaneRay team focused heavily on this high-impact area. Leveraging cutting-edge vector-based web techniques, we were able to produce a best-of-breed solution that is completely editable from a CMS. Now, skiers can scout out lines, find the best trail-side restaurant, and even see what runs were groomed that morning, right from their mobile phone.
Perhaps the biggest win for the project was the huge step forward for mobile and touch device users. Designing and developing with responsive techniques, the site is truly a "one site fits all" experience. Knowing that site performance is key, a forward thinking strategy was executed to deliver media assets appropriate to the respective devices. Mobile users now get the most optimized delivery of content in lieu of larger files for the larger screens. Instead of waiting for your page to load, you can now concentrate on more important things, like catching that next tram up to Rendezvous Bowl.
